My Dolby Atmos Experience

Last week I made my way to Jem to catch the movie teenagers are going gaga about. Yup Hunger Games: Mockingjay. Now, Jem is located at Jurong Gateway and I stay at Upper Thomson Road. It took me almost an hour and a half to get to Jem! Best of it all, I watched Hunger Games alone.

Yes I'm crazy but I'm not that mad. While I like Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, I'm not madly in love with them. My main purpose was to watch a much talked about movie with the all new cutting-edge Dolby Atmos technology. If you have not already heard, the Dolby Atmos is the much talked about audio experience you must experience to believe. I have a background in the audio industry so my ears are pretty much programmed to filter out bad audio.

The Dolby Atmos technology gives you at 360 degrees audio experience that transports you to a new dimension. It's like you are in the movie! How's that for an explanation? It's a weird feel when you are sitting in a cinema and both your ears are listening to something that's almost a real world scenario. Don't get me wrong. It's a weird feel in a very good way. I would say this is the way to watch a good movie and it's the only way I'll watch movies from now on.

There is a scene in the movie where soldiers are walking down a street and firing their weapons. It sounded so damn real! Explosions startled me and whenever Jennifer Lawrence's character shot her arrow, it made me want to be Robin Hood all over again. Yeah that was one of my childhood fantasies. Another example would be a scene in District 8 where planes fly overhead. In that split second, I actually thought there were real planes flying overhead because the sound effects were out-of-this-world. Scratch that. The sound effects were phenomenal thanks to Dolby Atmos!

I cannot wait to watch the upcoming Jurassic World with Dolby Atmos. Just thinking of T. Rex roaring gives me goosebumps! With all the action in Furious 7, this would be another good movie to watch. I'll throw The Avengers: Age of Ultron in too. As long as there are action scenes, the audio experience will be astounding!

If you are a home movie buff, I have great news for you. This audio experience can be accomplished in your home! I found out from the Dolby Facebook page that there is a Dolby Atmos home theater system and headphones too! Both products allows you to experience what I experienced at Jem. Uh huh!

Well if you love watching movies at the cinema, you'll totally dig watching a movie with the Dolby Atmos. I reckon the more action the better! Like I mentioned earlier, this is the only way I'll watch movies from now on. When I experience the best, it's tough for me to settle for second best. Visit Dolby Asia's Facebook page to find out more about this mind blowing experience!
