What has reality TV come to? I’m sure you’ll agree that there are some really dumb reality TV shows out there. I’m still a fan of Survivor and the latest China addition looks good. Having WWE Diva Ashley on the show is a bonus. Let's look at a couple of reality shows…
The man that dons a wig ‘Donald Trump’ and MTV have teamed-up to develop Pageant Place, a new reality series that will follow current Miss Universe Riyo Mori, Miss USA Rachel Smith and Miss Teen USA Katie Blair as they live together in a New York City apartment and represent their different crowns. Pageant Place is currently in production.
Noel Boyd says…Unless there’s a whole lot of boobies and cat-fights, this will be one boring TV show!
Miami Ink is a reality show on TLC that follows the events that take place at "305 Ink" (also known as "Miami Ink"), a tattoo shop in Miami Beach. The show premiered in July 2005 and entered its third season on June 12, 2007.
Noel Boyd says…Miami Ink in many ways, has educated Singaporeans about tattoos. Tattoo shops have also seen an increase in customers since this reality show aired in Asia. Look out for Season 3 which premieres on 7th October only on TLC.
Outback Jack was a 2004 reality TV show filmed in Outback, Australia. It was produced by Nash Entertainment. It starred Vadim Dale, a 6-foot-tall former underwear model, as Outback Jack, and started with twelve women who vied for Vadim's attentions to be selected as the woman he would choose to be with. The show first aired on the TBS network and was hosted by J.D. Roberto.
Outback Jack's first episode featured the twelve contestants getting out of limousines and lining up outside a mansion in the U.S., thinking they were about to be a part of a show similar to The Bachelor, only to be told by the host that "their man" was waiting for them in Australia. The dozen were shocked again, upon arriving in Australia, to find out that they would be competing in the Outback and that they would have to parachute out of planes to get to their destination.
Noel Boyd says…This show is dumb! Who the hell in their right mind would want to marry a farmer? If I was anyone of the women, I wouldn’t have pulled my parachute chord!!
Survivor: China is the fifteenth season of the reality television series Survivor. The show was announced by Jeff Probst at the end of the live reunion show for Survivor: Fiji on May 13, 2007, claiming this to be the first full American television series to be filmed entirely within China. The premiere of this season aired on September 20, 2007.
Noel Boyd says…As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, having WWE Diva Ashley in Survivor is a bonus. Unfortunately, she got eliminated in today’s episode. Well, thanks to Mediacorp, I’ve spoilt it for the Survivor fans. It’s their fault that they’re not showing it live anymore!
Who Wants to Be a Superhero? is a reality show hosted by Stan Lee. Contestants dress up as comic book superheroes of their own invention. Each week, Lee challenges the contestants to represent what "superheroes are all about." One or more of the superheroes deemed the least deserving is eliminated per episode. The grand prize for the winning superhero is to have his or her character star in a Dark Horse Comics comic book written by Lee and appear in an original movie to be aired on Sci Fi Channel. The winner also receives a trip for two to Universal Studios Florida to participate in the park's Parade of Superheroes.
Noel Boyd says…I watched this incredibly stupid show for the first time this morning. If you think Halloween is bad, this is far worse. I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw Big Momma. Donuts as a weapon? Looking at her, she’ll probably eat all the damn donuts.
Here’s my superhero. She can save me anytime!
’m outta here. Enjoy your weekend Singapore!
