Knock it down SOLDIER!!

Hi all…thanks for the emails and texts while I was away serving the nation. Two weeks flew by real fast and I seriously think the government should increase our in-camp-training (ICT) to 8 weeks.

On a serious note, if we ever go to war, I’ll take a bullet for any of the 10 men in my bunk. And I would fight for my family, friends and all the women whom I’ve been dying to screw. And lastly, I will fight for the Lion City that I call home. Patriotic I think not. It’s doing what’s right.

In-camp-training is the only time where we can behave like morons and nobody gives a rats ass. So yeah, once a year, men gather and exchange the latest happenings at KTV’s, massage parlours and the ever popular geylang lorong 8. It’s also the time when we get to sleep in carparks and pavements. All this while we sober and holding a M16 rifle.

During our ICT, we spoke at large about the Navy SEALs. For those who don’t know, Navy SEALs are from the United States army and these blokes are the elite of the elite. Their Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training lasts 26 weeks and below are the minimum requirements to become a SEAL.

• 457-metres swim using breast or side stroke in under 12mins 30secs
• At least 42 push-ups in 2 minutes
• At least 50 sit-ups in 2 minutes
• At least 6 pull-ups (no time limit)
• Run 2.4km in boots and long pants in under 11mins 30secs
• Members’ vision must be no worse than 20/200 in both eyes. Vision must be correctable to 20/20. SEAL candidates may qualify for PRK surgery to correct their vision

The above must be done concurrently and are the minimum requirements necessary to qualify for BUD/S. Prospective trainees are expected to far exceed these minimums. Competitive scores from past trainees are as follows:

• 457-metres swim using breast or combat side stroke in less than 10mins
• 75 push-ups in 2 minutes
• 75 sit-ups in 2 minutes
• 20 pull-ups from a dead hang (no time limit)
• Run 2.4km in boots and long pants in under 9mins 30secs

One word for the SEALs, Commandos, SAS and Delta boys….RESPECT!

I’ve not adjusted back to civilian life and if I continue with this post, there’s gonna be more army talk. I’ll either blog again later today or tomorrow. Till then…I’m gonna be in Operation Raven land. Salute!!
