SIN SIN NGO HIANG PRAWN CRACKER
I've known the kind folks at this stall since I was a kid. Don't ask me what their names are because I'm a good old Asian guy that addresses my elders as Auntie and Uncle. Mind you, the Sembawang Hills Food Centre was built in 1974! Though the food centre has been upgraded, a good number of old hawkers still ply their trade. They are doing what they do best! Serving good food to the folks at Upper Thomson. Amen!
This Ngoh Hiang stall has now become comfort food for me. Whenever I need to relive the past, this is the stall I'll come to. It's not like they needed to change their style of cooking or their recipe. The bee hoon still tastes like how it was back in the day when I used to play hide and seek all over the neighbourhood and the prawn cracker is the bomb!!! And the sweet chilli sauce. Oh man the chilli sauce!!!!
Before I suffer from a major food-gasm, let's stop talking about the chilli sauce! Ok besides the century egg and deep fried fishballs which I always go for, I'll have this sausage thingy, squid thingy and this fish cake thingy. Hahaha! I don't know the exact name of the other food items. Are there even English names for these food items?! Well I don't think it matters. I am Singaporean. I just eat!
