Today we celebrate World Animal Day!
This day goes out to everyone that works or volunteers with animals in Singapore. It’s not an easy job and it’s admirable to know that you guys are doing a fantastic job. My love goes out to all the keepers at the Night Safari and Singapore Zoo.
If you have children or teach in a school, today is the perfect day to educate the young about animals. There’s a wide range of topics that you can use when talking to the kids. Most of the information you’ll need is available from the links on the left sidebar. Remember to make this a fun filled activity. The more they are involved, the more they wanna learn. If you need ideas, check out this website (http://www.worldanimalday.org.uk/kids_launch.asp#).
There are various that you can celebrate World Animal Day. If you have the means, adopt an animal. Remember, this is only if you have the means. A good pet owner has to be responsible, mindful, disciplined and loving.
Another way to celebrate this day is to donate pet food to the SPCA. I’m suggesting pet food because at least you’ll know that it’ll be used to feed the dogs and cats. I’ve never been comfortable donating money to charity organizations. You’ll never know where the money goes to. I’m not implying anything here. It’s a personal preference.
I would rather think that World Animal Day isn’t a once a year affair. It should be daily thing for all pet owners. If you’re really busy today and you can’t spare 5 minutes of your precious time, there’s tomorrow. And the day after, and the following day. Not having time is a lame excuse to get out from something.
So people, spread the love and be nice to animals today. Not just today, but everyday!
