Public Service Announcements on Malaysia Radio

I don't know if you'll agree with me when I say Malaysian radio stations are better than the ones we have in Singapore. Rather than tell you what I dislike about our Singapore stations, I'll tell you what I like about the stations across the causeway.

The first would be the public service announcements (PSA) that are frequently aired. Everytime I'm in Malaysia, I keep a ear out for them. Recently when I was in Penang, I heard once such announcement about families and their mobile phones. The deejay advised families to put aside their phones during a meal so that they can enjoy a proper family meal. I mean think about it. For most of us, there's only that ONE time in a day where all of us are sitting together. And that's during dinner. So why communicate with your friends on your mobile device when you can have a decent conversation with the people that are supposed to matter most in your life?

I remember other PSA's like flushing the toilet after use, speeding, etc... I think as humans, we need to be reminded from time to time. For some others, it needs to be drilled into their heads. That's exactly what Malaysian radio is doing and I think it's fantastic!

Another thing I like about Malaysian radio is the fact that they sound really local. Yes I know brothers like Glenn Ong, Rod Monteiro and Tim Oh sound local but I ain't talking about them. You get what I mean. Do you?

One last thing...JJ and Ean are the bomb! This duo are on Hitz fm every morning from 6am to 10am. Funny guys that will cheer you up even on your lousiest day! That says a lot about them. You can listen to their podcast here.

ps: I listen to Hitz fm, Mix fm and Red fm whenever I'm in Malaysia. Those stations rock!
