FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I'm sitting back, enjoying my 500ml can of Raffles Larger and thinking how best I can write this post. Let me start off by saying a dickwad (you know who you are) sent me the following message on Facebook "eh bro your advertising off [sic] haunted changi getting quite irritating. how much they paying you??"

So instead of replying to Mr. Dickwad on Facebook, I'm gonna do it here. Let's start off by saying that the folks from Mythopolis Pictures aren't paying me a dime! Yup! I ain't getting free tickets either! Ok I got a free t-shirt but that doesn't quite cover my blogging fees. It's more of a souvenir than anything else.

If you know me well enough, you'll know that I do lots of things for free. It drives my wife and agents up the freaking wall! My late friend Andrew once remarked that if I stopped doing things for free, I would be a rich man. But while money is always good, I rather die knowing I've helped the people I genuinely like. If that makes me a person that doesn't understand how money is made, then so be it. At least I'm smiling every damn day!

Later today when I watch Haunted Changi with my wife and friends from Julia Gabriel, WE WILL be paying for our tickets. It's called SUPPORTING LOCAL. That's something a lot of Singaporeans need to start doing. Understand Mr. Dickwad?

  1. It is always good to help. But maybe there should be a limit? Not sayin its bad to help but people do take things for granted. Not all the time but sometimes. That's why your wife and agents freak out. LOL!

  2. Aww man I wanna waaaaatch tooooo. :(

Anyway. I understand the whole business side of things but at the same time, by doing things for free, don't you build up your reputation? And you can't buy a good reputation.

Also, yes, some people might take you for granted but others will remember the good things you do and that might prompt them to show a little goodwill towards you in the future. :D

  3. Jaded Soul: I'm with you on that. But I believe in karma :)

Nadie: Hopefully the DVD will be out when you come back.

I think it's good to do stuff for free when you're new. You'll get the experience you need and hopefully one will be able to leave a lasting impression.

Well, there's too little people helping so I guess what I do is a good thing. I want a statue of myself erected in Thomson Road when I die! LOL!!!
