Morons and Exotic Food

Every time when I read the news, there’s bound to be an article that pisses me off! We have morons walking this earth that come in all shapes, sizes and religions. Take for example the morons that decided to cut the sentences of the 10 terrorists in the 2002 Bali Bombing. What the hell were they thinking? Then again, this isn’t the first time those bastards have had their sentences cut. They killed innocent tourists for crying out loud!!
Tourists just like you and me. Everyday people having a good time on a beautiful island. Did the Indonesian government think about the people that lost their loved ones? The answer is a BIG fat no! I thank the gods above that I was born in Singapore. At the very least, I do not have idiots running a country. Amen!!

Next we’ll move on to Malaysia where they have lifted a ban on the export of long-tailed macaques. Malaysia feels that they are becoming a menace in urban areas. As such, they are negotiating to export them to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and Japan, where they could end up as food or pets. What are the chances of the latter happening? Taiwan and Hong Kong are infamously known to eat cats and dogs. It’s just plain wrong. It’s a joy to watch these long-tailed macaques in the wild. Like any other species of the primate family, they have every right to live in their natural habitat.

If there’s anyone to blame, it’s us humans. I’m positive that humans have been feeding the monkeys and as such, they depend on us for food. So you see folks, the signs that have been erected at our local nature reserves are to protect the monkeys. If you really wanna feed something, feed the less fortunate. Or visit the Singapore Zoo where you can feed selected animals (elephants and primates for example for SGD$2.00) under the supervision of an animal keeper. I don’t know about you guys but I’m totally against the trade of wild animals. Knowing that they might end up on someone’s plate, is a disgustful thought!!

On the subject of food, Asia is home to an array of exotic food. A visit to Sheng Siong Supermarket at Ten Mile Junction a couple days ago was an experience! They had a shit load of LIVE frogs that were on sale. I love amphibians like I love reptiles. I can’t imagine anyone eating them but this is Singapore. My mom of all people instigated that we should set them free. Imagine the chaos that would have followed. I wouldn’t fancy being banned from a supermarket ad being in the news for the wrong reasons. Another item that caught my attention was LIVE eels. Just like frogs, I don’t eat eels.

In Asia, you’ll be surprised with the things that end up on a dinner plate. I will now list a number of other animals that are being traded as food in Asia…

  • Crocodiles (NTUC sells their frozen meat)
  • Domestic cats and dogs
  • Flying Fox (the world’s largest bat)
  • Horses
  • Malayan Sunbears
  • Malayan Tapir
  • Monitor Lizards
  • Reticulated Python
  • Scorpions
  • Sharks (for their fins)
  • Stingrays
  • Tigers (for their meat, penises and paws)
  • Turtles (the disgusting turtle soup that many Singaporeans love).
These my friends are just a couple of items that are served throughout Asia. I’ve heard there are restaurants in Johor, Kahang Town Malaysia, that cater to exotic food lovers. I’m not gonna argue or debate with anyone who enjoys eating exotic food. I rather slap you then listen to a long ass explanation that would mean jackass to me. There are some things that I would never be able to understand and this is just one of them.

Alright…it’s about time for late lunch. It’s raining again in Singapore and it’s gonna be all nice and cozy indoors. But before I sign off, please say NO to exotic food and say YES to wildlife conservation. Enjoy your Sunday and god bless!

  1. Okay, I wun eat like dog, cat (even though I dun really like them), horse or dolphin meat.

Crocodiles are bred for its meat in Singapore. It tastes like very tough pork.

Monitor lizards taste pretty herbal lah, dude.

But I swear smoked python is the bomb! Even better than BBQ stingrays!!! All happened during my Combat Survival course. Wished I brought sambal chilli outfield though.

And yes, I like turtle soup though I haven't had it for ages. They are grown for their meat these days. They are one of the many sea turtles we have, apparently not the endangered species. And really aggressive too.

  2. Hmm...i can't stop anyone from eating whatever they want. but I do hope that one day people would see them as nice and beautiful animals. I reckon only then would the buying stop.

As for you eating python meat, I think that's just wrong. Then again, its the army's fault.

The turtle eaten in Singapore is the Chinese Soft Shelled Turtle. In the western world, they consume the green turtle and the snapping turtle.

The list I provided in that post was for my western readers bro. Many of them know we're got weird food and I wanted to confirm it.
