Random Thoughts:

  • Vijay recommended a good read about Saddam Hussein. The wikipedia article has everything you’ve ever wanted to know of the previous ruler of Iraq. There’s shit loads that the media has failed to mention. After all, they never have anything good to say about anyone. For example, did you know that Detroit awarded Saddam Hussein a key to the city in 1980, because of contributions to several local Detroit Catholic Churches, in particular a $170,000 donation to a church that was in heavy debt? Another fact that I found amusing was that Saddam was assisted, trained and housed by America’s CIA in 1959. A year earlier, Saddam was involved in the attempted United States-backed plot to assassinate Prime Minister Qassim. While ruiling Iraq, he ensured that there was free schooling up to the highest education levels and granted free hospitalization to everyone. You can read this article in full by clicking here.

  • Along with 4 other female artists, Wong Li Lin is joining Mediacorp Radio. Li Lin is one hell of a babe and she’s got nice boobies too. Vijay used to watch Triple Nine just so he could catch a glimpse of her nipples. He claims that she never wore a bra on any of the episodes. Hmm… James Lye must have been one happy bloke!

  • My index finger went numb a week ago. Two days ago, the tip of my thumb went thumb. Now I’ve got two fingers that aren’t of much use. I dread the day when I can’t jerk off with my right hand. I’ve tried using my left hand and it doesn’t feel the same!! Alright…enough of random thoughts…

Well folks, yesterday was the first day of in-camp training. We’ll be in Nee Soon camp for two weeks and the canteen looks set to be the hangout joint! It’s nice meeting up with the boys or should I say men? We spent two years of our lives together and to see most of them married amazes me.

I learnt yesterday that a dear friend of mine, Ali Ahmad a.k.a ‘The Ace Man’ passed away on the eve of Raya. Ali and I worked together on numerous events and he was always a joy to work with. He had no airs and was the easiest talent to work with. Ask anyone from the events industry and they’ll tell you the same thing.

The last event Ali and I worked on was a show for our Prime Minister’s Visit to Sengkang. Our last conversation was around the middle of this year and he had this new Showtime act planned. As always, he would call me by my full name whenever I answered his calls. I would always reply “Mr Ali Ahmad!!”

Anyway...this new Showtime would showcase Ali singing hits from Ricky Martin, Justin Timberlake, Craig David, Creed, UB40 and much more. To cut things short, he needed help in promoting this new Showtime and he needed lightings cum effects. After we was done selling his idea, I asked him “You sure you wanna do Ricky and Justin numbers?” He replied “Why? You don’t think this old man can do it? I’ve still got the grooves ok!”

That’s Ali Ahmad for you. I remember an event I did for Yuying Secondary. He had the entire ballroom dancing on stage! With his charisma and awesome vocals, he was the talent that never ever failed to impress. If you’re reading this from up there, Thank you for the memories bro. And thank you for the friendship. You’re gonna be missed by so many people…

In life, we always take the little things for granted. Things that will someday come back and haunt you. With Ali, it’s the Showtime that never happened. With Kate, I would have given up all the girls just to be with her. The only thing I’ve learnt is that Life is fragile and regrets are worth nothing when that person is gone…
